Thunderstorms Expected in Southern Punjab and Eastern Sindh on August 21

Islamabad – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted the possibility of thunderstorms in southern Punjab and eastern Sindh on Monday, August 21, 2023.

The weather report issued by the PMD stated that most plain areas of the country will experience mainly hot and humid weather. However, there is a chance of rain, wind, and thundershowers in isolated places.

These areas include south Punjab, eastern Sindh, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, and nearby hilly regions.

The current weather pattern, known as the synoptic situation, is influenced by weak moist currents coming from the Bay of Bengal. These currents are moving into the central and upper parts of the country, which might lead to the formation of thunderstorms.

Over the past day, much of the country experienced hot and humid weather. Some areas received rainfall, with recorded figures as follows:

Kashmir: Muzaffarabad (City 22 mm & Airport 17 mm), Garhi Dupatta 04 mm.\

Balochistan: Barkhan 04 mm.

The highest temperatures observed today were as follows:

Bhakkar: 44°C

Nokkundi, Noor Pur Thal, and Bannu: 43°C
