The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has announced a significant reshuffling of officers within the Pakistan Customs Service (PCS), appointing Gul Rehman, a BS-21 officer, as the new Chief Collector of Customs, Balochistan. This move is part of a broader set of transfers and postings aimed at enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of the Customs administration.
According to a notification issued by the FBR on October 24, 2020, Gul Rehman, who previously held the position of Director General at the Directorate General of Reforms & Automation (Customs), Islamabad, has been transferred to his new role in Balochistan. Rehman’s appointment as Chief Collector of Customs, Balochistan, comes at a crucial time, as the region plays a pivotal role in Pakistan’s trade and border management.
In addition to Gul Rehman’s transfer, the FBR has made several other key postings within the Pakistan Customs Service. Syed Hamid Ali, another BS-21 officer, has been appointed as Member (Legal & Accounting-Customs) at FBR Headquarters in Islamabad. Prior to this, Ali was handling the look after charge of legal and accounting matters in the Customs Wing, along with serving as Chief R&A, Customs Wing, at FBR Headquarters.
Wajid Ali, a BS-20 officer, has been posted as Director General (OPS) at the Directorate General of Reforms & Automation (Customs), Islamabad, following his return from the National Management Course (NMC). Similarly, Ahmed Rauf, another BS-20 officer, has been assigned the role of Director General at the Directorate General of Input Output Coefficient Organization (IOCO) in Karachi upon his return from NMC.
Furthermore, the FBR has entrusted Fayaz Rasool, a BS-19 officer, with the additional responsibility of Chief R&S, Customs Wing, at FBR Headquarters, while he continues in his existing role as Chief (OPS) at the same location. Sanaullah Abro, also a BS-19 officer, has been given the additional charge of Director, Reforms and Automation (Customs), Karachi, alongside his duties as Director (OPS) at the Directorate of Risk Management, Karachi.
The FBR has clarified that officers who were receiving performance allowances before the issuance of this notification will continue to receive these allowances at their new postings.
This reshuffle reflects the FBR’s ongoing efforts to optimize its operations by placing experienced officers in critical positions. The new appointments are expected to strengthen the Customs administration, particularly in regions like Balochistan, which are integral to Pakistan’s economic and security landscape.
