Samsung unveils 98-Inch Neo QLED 8K TV

Samsung has unveiled its latest 98-inch Neo QLED 8K TV at CES 2023, catering to the growing demand for ultra-large TVs.

With its grand scale and exceptional detail, the 98-inch TV has become the new standard for large TVs. As consumer preferences continue to shift towards larger screen sizes, Samsung has adapted its TV offerings accordingly to provide the best viewing experiences.

According to Chae, Samsung’s customer survey revealed that consumers are buying larger TVs than their previous models, with 75% of consumers purchasing TVs that are on average 13 inches bigger than their previous TV. This trend is further fuelled by the increasing popularity of streaming services, with consumers seeking more immersive viewing experiences at home.

Younger generations also prefer larger screens, with those in their 30s and 40s leading sales in the ultra-large TV market since 2021. As a result, the ultra-large TV market is expected to continue to grow.

One of the biggest concerns when purchasing an ultra-large TV is the viewing distance. However, with the 98-inch Neo QLED TV, viewers can comfortably watch from as close as 4 meters away, making it suitable for smaller and larger rooms. Samsung has also created a space in their store where customers can simulate the viewing distance to help them gauge how the TV would fit in their homes.

While some consumers may have concerns about the large size of the TV, Samsung’s Kim explained that many consumers regret not opting for a larger screen size. Samsung has also worked diligently to ensure that delivery and installation are convenient for customers, even offering optimized delivery and installation services based on the customer’s environment.

With TVs now providing diverse content such as games, sports, movies, and fitness, the role of TVs has evolved. Immersion is a top priority for many consumers, and large TVs provide breathtaking experiences for all types of content. As such, the popularity of ultra-large TVs is expected to continue, with Samsung’s TVs at the forefront of home entertainment.

Chae advises consumers to consider what activities they will use their TV for before purchasing one. With a larger display providing a more immersive experience, ultra-large TVs are likely to remain popular for consumers seeking a versatile TV that can cater to multiple purposes.

Samsung remains committed to focusing on these aspects in their future TV products, ensuring that they remain at the center of home entertainment.
