Senate approves Supreme Court practice, procedure bill 2023

On Thursday, the Senate approved the Supreme Court Practice and Procedure Bill, 2023, which was introduced by the Law Minister, Azam Nazeer Tarar.

The bill proposes the formation of committees comprising the Chief Justice and two senior judges to allocate cases and benches.

The bill also grants the right to appeal, fulfilling a long-standing demand of bar councils and associations.

Additionally, the House passed two more bills: The Lawyers Welfare and Protection Bill, 2023, and The Inter Boards Coordination Commission Bill, 2023.

The House also introduced The Pakistan Maritime Zones Bill, 2023 and The Pir Roshaan Institute of Progressive Sciences and Technologies, Miranshah Bill, 2023. The House is scheduled to meet again at 10:30 tomorrow morning.
