Sindh Adopts Alternate Delivery Channel as Exclusive Tax Payment System

Karachi, October 12, 2023 – The Sindh government has taken a significant step by designating the Alternate Delivery Channel (ADC) as the sole payment system for all tax payments within the province.

In a public notice released on October 11, 2023, the Sindh Revenue Board (SRB) officially announced that, for the sake of uniformity and convenience, all tax payments must now be exclusively made through the existing Alternate Delivery Channel, ADC I-Bill.

The notice clarifies that all other payment options previously available for tax payments are being discontinued, effectively making ADC I-Bill the primary and mandatory method of tax payment in Sindh.

The SRB cited several reasons for the shift to the ADC I-BILL payment system, noting its efficiency and convenience. Under this system, taxpayers are afforded the flexibility to make payments through any bank, including the National Bank of Pakistan (NBP), utilizing various modes of payment, such as online transactions, cheque/pay orders, or cash.

To initiate payments, taxpayers will need to generate a Payment Slip ID (PSID) for ADC I-BILL payments, following the same procedure as previously practiced. Subsequently, they can approach any bank, regardless of their choice, to execute the tax payment.

In cases where a taxpayer has already generated a PSID with a payment option other than ADC I-BILL, the SRB clarifies that the payment can still be made at any designated NBP branch, as long as it falls within the validity period of the existing PSID.

This change in payment methodology aims to streamline and centralize the tax payment process in Sindh, ensuring consistency and convenience for taxpayers. It also leverages modern banking and digital payment options to make it easier for individuals and businesses to fulfill their tax obligations. The move to the ADC as the exclusive payment channel represents a proactive effort by the Sindh government to modernize and enhance the tax collection system, ultimately benefiting both the government and taxpayers.
