Banking Mohtasib Pakistan Assists Customers with Rs 539.72 Million Relief in 1HCY23

Karachi, July 13, 2023 – The Banking Mohtasib Pakistan has taken significant measures to address customer concerns by resolving 12,015 complaints, resulting in a monetary relief of Rs 539.72 million during the first half of the current calendar year, spanning from January to June 2023.

Throughout this period, an impressive 98% (11,731) of the complaints were successfully resolved through mutual agreement, while the remaining 2% (284) required formal orders from the Banking Ombudsman for a satisfactory resolution.

The number of complaints directed at commercial banks continues to grow, with the Banking Mohtasib receiving a total of 14,863 new complaints in the past six months (January 1st to June 30th, 2023), including 4,057 submissions made via the Prime Minister’s Portal.

Recognizing the significance of safeguarding customers against fraud and deceptive practices, Mr. Muhammad Kamran Shehzad, the Banking Mohtasib Pakistan, has emphasized the crucial role of customers in protecting their personal and financial information. He advised customers against disclosing such details to any third party and urged them to promptly report any suspicious calls by reaching out to the nearest bank branch or contacting the bank’s helpline.
