The Port Qasim Authority (PQA) has released its shipping activity report for Thursday, March 28, 2024, providing valuable insights to stakeholders and highlighting the bustling maritime operations at one of Pakistan’s premier ports.

During the past 24 hours, three vessels – Marathopolis, Anna-M, and Chemroad Rose – arrived and berthed at different terminals within the port. Marathopolis docked at the Container Terminal, while Anna-M and Chemroad Rose were stationed at the Bulk Terminal and Engro Terminal, respectively. These ships were laden with containers, coal, and chemicals, showcasing the diverse range of cargo handled at Port Qasim.

In addition to the berthed vessels, five more ships – Silver Heba, As Emererald Gree, Yun Ding 19, AL-Bidda, and UOG Sparta – anchored at the outer anchorage of the port during the same period. These vessels brought with them cargoes such as palm oil, liquefied natural gas (LNG), and mogas, further adding to the port’s bustling activity.

A total of eleven ships were engaged at PQA berths during the last 24 hours. Six of these ships – Port Imabari, Solar Roma, Malha Ras Laffan, Epicurus, Pindos, and Marathopolis – are expected to set sail later today, contributing to the continuous flow of maritime traffic in and out of the port.

The cargo handling operations at Port Qasim remained robust, with a total volume of 171,279 tonnes handled during the past 24 hours. This included 143,245 tonnes of imported cargo and 28,034 tonnes of exported cargo, with containerized goods accounting for a significant portion. A total of 2,506 containers were handled, comprising 1,444 TEUs of imports and 1,062 TEUs of exports.

At present, nine ships are stationed at the Outer Anchorage of Port Qasim. Among them, four ships – Taxi Diara, Kerala, AL-Bidda, and Sky Runner – are scheduled to load or unload cargo such as cement, furnace oil, palm oil, and LNG. These vessels are expected to take berths at various terminals within the port on Thursday. Additionally, the arrival of the ship Kosan Adam, carrying 52,500 tonnes of wheat, is anticipated on the same day, further adding to the port’s bustling operations.

The continued influx of vessels and cargo at Port Qasim underscores its strategic importance as a vital maritime gateway for trade and commerce, facilitating the movement of goods to and from Pakistan and contributing to the country’s economic growth and development.
